Theory of the Mind
A though, an idea or a concept if not immediately rejected can stay in the conscious portion of the mind for up to 1 1/2 hours, before moving to the critical mind. Where the though or image can stay for up to 24 hours. The thought, idea or concept is then either accepted by the subconscious mind or vented out through dreams.
The subconscious mind ates the unknown, and will often accept a painful known over a pleasureable unknown. For a thought, idea or concept to be accepted by the subconscious there must be a match.
Hypnosis shuts down the critical mind- often called the gatekeeper- and allows new thoughts, ideas or concepts to enter directly into the subconscious, so when new thoughts, ideas or concepts from the outer worlds are introduced the subconscious can readily accept them.
If your mother constantly told you that you are ugly, when you hear that in the outside world your subconscious accepts it as a known. When someone tells you that you are pretty your subconscious rejects that as an unknown---- subconscious hates the unknown. You know this to be true if you have ever felt the resistant to a compliment- your subscious refuses to accept it.
Most beliefs are formed before the age of 5, before we have a critical mind. Hypnotherapy works by changing these beliefs at a subconscious level, allowing positive stimulates from the outside world to enter.
We are born with two fears. The fear of falling, and the fear of loud noises, everything else if learned behaviour. Our belief systems controls our thoughts, emotions and actions, but we can control our subconscious!
