Smoking is a habit, although there is a chemical addiction, it will usually go away within a few days, it's the use of smoking as a coping mechanism that is harder to break.
In this program we will address why you smoke, and give you coping tools to help you make the shift to being a non-smoker.
This is a 3 session program. Although most clients quit smoking after the first session, the following week can be full of adjustments, so I have you come in for a second session in about 7 days to discuss any issues you may be having and to reinforce your commitment. For those really struggling I suggest a follow up in 3 days.
Smoking is considered a habit and it takes about 21 days to break a habit, so I have you come in for a 3rd visit to really cement your commitment to being a non-smoker.
I often find that clients need to talk about their accomplishments and struggles, this in itself is a very powerful reinforcement.
The coping skills you learn can actually be used in a wider range of circumstances as you will not have to excuse yourself and leave the room, they can be used before you ever become consumed with needing that stress release.
Smoking is not only harmful to your health, but the shame, guilt, and anxiety that is often associated with smoking makes it almost impossible to live a life of "ease".
