Hypnosis is a trance state that allows greater focus on our subconscious. We are in hypnosis whenever the subconscious mind becomes more dominant then the conscious mind.
Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of the hypnosis state. A trained hypnotherapist can bring you into a deeper state of awareness then you would achieve on your own.
When you are hypnotized you are not asleep. Your conscious mind is always aware of what you are experiencing while you are hypnotized. Despite the deep subconscious state, your mind can comment, criticize, and censor. You are always in control of what you say. Hypnosis is not a "truth serum." You do not enter a time machine and suddenly find yourself transported to another time and place with no awareness of the present. Even in a past life regression you are aware of your surroundings.
There is no danger in hypnosis, no person hypnotized has ever become "stuck" in the hypnotic state. You can emerge from a state of hypnosis when ever you want. It's like shaking your head to get out of a deep state of thought. No one can control you.
But you are at the mercy of your beliefs
Growing up from infancy to early adulthood everyone is hypnotizing you---- telling you what everything means, telling you who you are, and what your actions mean regarding your worthiness-by delivering suggestions to you with
and emotional force.
Have you ever been unfortunate enough to eaves drop on a young child and hear them talking to their toys --- while repeating the judgments heard about herself in an innocent, sing song voice? Unfortunately that is the beginning process of self-hypnosis (or self talk if you like).
In this way we quickly develop perceptions. We can no longer hear a bird, see a tree, taste a hamburger, or experience anything (including ourself) simply and directly without triggering an instantaneous, uninterrupted barrage of judgments, feelings and memories. Filling our mind with sights, sounds, and sensations associated with the past but are projected into the here and now with such speed and force we don't notice. Then we create a new belief.
Our sense of self is really only held together by our beliefs. What is real for one person isn't real for another, it's all about how we perceive it. The stories we tell ourselves.
All our future actions are based on this self talk
When we lock ourself into a tight ball of repeating thoughts we are in hypnosis. We make decisions based on what is in our
subconscious. Beliefs learned as a child. Beliefs about your worthiness that are based on the beliefs of those whom are making the suggestions. I'm sure you can notice how family dynamics can be passed down generation to generation, as well the impact social society has on developing your belief system.
Whether something is black or white, good or bad depends on how we perceive. Two men lose their job, one has a fear of never finding another job and the other knows he will get another job. It's easy to imagine how the future will play out for each of these men. Did their beliefs make a difference in their future choices?
Take a look around the room, then close your eyes and see how much you remember....
Not much, right? We can't possibly remember every detail of everything around us, but our subconscious mind does. In a deep hypnotic state we can recall details surrounding events similar to watching a show on a screen. You conscious mind is the movie's observer and it's critic; always aware and observing.
Many people are capable of hypermnesia – the ability to remember an incident in uncommonly vivid detail. Hypermnesia is used in forensic hypnosis when police need a witness to recall the scene of a crime.
Hypnosis puts you in a state that holds great potential for healing by giving you access to your subconscious mind where you can retrieve memories that may still be negatively influencing you.
Consider hypnotherapy if you want to change something about yourself, but seem unable to make the change by yourself.
